The Pill And Your Period

Posted on February 21, 2010.
The Pill And Your PeriodQuestion about the pill, your period, and sex.?

I am on Apri 28 days, and during the week of sugar pills, I had sex on a Friday (the day before your last sugar pill). My boyfriend used a condom but it broke. We knew the moment he broke, he went out and took off and he was. I was wondering if everything on the sugar pills, he remains a protection against pregnancy during your period? And so I started taking the hormone pills again (which is tomorrow, when I had sex yesterday) what are the chances of being pregnant?

When you're on the pill, you're protected at all times, including the week, you do not take pills that you can get your period. The pill works by altering hormone levels so as not to ovulate. You need to ovulate become pregnant. You will not be ovulating during your spring break.

There is virtually no chance that you are pregnant. If there is no chance that you might have contracted an STD from the condom to break, take a test.

Yes, you're always protected while taking sugar pills. If you were not, they would not sugar pills!

The purpose of the sugar pill is to keep you in the habit of taking your pill. You can skip the sugar pill with no ill effects as long as you take the rest normally.

A few people have got pregnant on birth control, but it is not related to the sugar pill phase. It's just a chance for you to have your period, nothing more, and you should always be protected from pregnancy. If you worry, just take a test in about 14 days. But I'm sure you're fine.

Whenever you have sex you run the risk of getting pregnant ... chances are a little lower while on your period (because the body was said not pregnant and swamps of the uterus, then a period), but no, sugar pills are just you usually take the pill ... not for any kind of protection ... glad to hear that you used a condom! (Many here do not seem to get it!) But no, the chances are extremely low ... If you're late next month trial.

you take the pill everyday at the same time, no exceptions to work properly. one missed dose can result in pregnancy. when you start taking oral contraceptives, you should use a backup method for at least 30 days before the drug is safe enough in your system to prevent pregnancy. If you follow these rules you'll probably be OK. even if it was a placebo pill.
