TavistHave you had a positive experience with Tavist, Chlortrimeton, Atarax or Benadryl to treat allergies in dogs

PLEASE only answer the question with LEGITIMATE ANSWERS informed. THANKS!

My dog has respiratory allergies. My vet advised me to help allergy OTC, like Benadryl, to treat his allergies. He was on 3 doses of Benadryl for about a month without any change. It still is and always itching and brought an e-collar for about 2 weeks to reduce itching. Her vet said that the salaries of other allergies may be more effective. I seek out those who have had similar experiences with their dogs and have had positive results with Tavist, Atarax or Chlortrimeton. Thank you for the suggestions!

My dog has allergies and it has been a nightmare. Plans, medicines, veterinary helped. The nothing (has changed nine) his food and took her off, which is predicting a steroid and is bad for the kidneys of dogs .. Benedryl never worked for her either. He also prescribed baths maleseb shampoo once a week. It took five weeks, but the difference is incredible. It has cleared and has no scratches, damage or loss of hair. She also stopped sneezing. He put on the potato and Science Diet food for salmon. I was skeptical, but it works. He was a veterinarian of 40 years and says sometimes you just simply need to change foods because something may be triggering it.My dog is drug free "He knows his stuff!

My bulldog HAD the same problems and SHAMPOO MALESEB and salmon and sweet potato PROBLEM IS FIXED ALSO.ONLY not find MALESEB NOW and make fish smell NOW. Flag

Benadryl

It is best to know what the dog is allergic to and avoid that, rather than treating the symptoms .. Much cheaper and easier on the dog .. You should get a new vet.

All these treat only symptoms. Not the case.
IMHO dogs too are allergic to "sniffing"
95% is diet.

I just used Benadryl to my dog and it worked very well. Maybe since yours is still itching to give him a bath without shampoo could be allergic to something on his skin. processing chips Perhaps he had. Good luck. Poor dog :-(

Really, I agree with DP. If your veterinarian does not help you with this problem, it is time for a new vet.

Some allergy medications have very harmful things in them and should not be given to all dogs TOA. Your vet should have been more useful to you in this regard.
