Heartburn, sore throat? I had horrible heartburn in recent weeks. And now, my throat hurt very bad. Is this something to do with the bad heartburn I had? I am also 23 weeks pregnant
Heartburn feels like a burning in the heart and throat. It is most often caused by stomach acid refluxing from the stomach into the esophagus. Heartburn is very common during pregnancy, especially in the third quarter. Many women have heartburn for the first time during pregnancy.
Eating habits may help relieve or prevent heartburn during pregnancy. For example, if you eat several small meals a day instead of three large you may find that your heartburn is reduced and you have more energy. Eating slowly will help reduce heartburn. You should also avoid fried, spicy or rich foods, or foods that seem to increase heartburn.
There are several medications you can take during pregnancy to fight against heartburn. As always, check with your doctor before using any of them. Mylanta, Maalox, and other magnesium-based antacids seem to provide more lasting relief of symptoms. counter antacids, such as Pepsid, Tagamet and Zantac are also considered safe during pregnancy. For severe cases, your doctor may prescribe sucralfate liquid for heartburn, although this product may cause or increase constipation.
yeah, when you have heartburn and acid can cause irritation in the throat. I had this very bad at first, I found that sucking on a kind of mint seems to help keep my throat lubricated so that it has not done so badly,
Oh yes, it could be heartburn is the same as acid reflux. acid from the stomach is being pushed towards the throat. Chew some spirals. Some women swear by a glass of milk. My doctor told me to take Zantac which helped soooo much considering the Tums just does not cut it after the first quarter.
We must also have your doc check throat just to be sure this is not a sinus infection or strep throat.
When I have heartburn, it is only a burning sensation in the throat not in my chest. The acid reflux. Tums usually helps me.
Good luck!
Yep. My thought was this and I received a cold with heartburn. Mine came very early, like around six weeks. I struggled with heartburn for 10 years or so, but I'd never been this bad. The doctor told me to take Pepcid AC - Tums did not even touch the problem. It works very well, but sometimes it wears out too quickly. You're only supposed to take one every 12 hours. Sometimes, I end up taking Tums anyway to temporarily quell the burn. Congratulations and good luck.
Yes, it is the acid in the throat when u sleep especailly if u are suffering from this talk a lot to your doc and I recommend certain drugs over the couter to help or he may be able to give u something for heartburn. But do nothhing not to mention the ob / gyn first ...
Yes, it has something to do with it. I had heartburn break with my son (13) and could not take anything, but some maylox. Now, when I was pregnant with my daughter (4) The doctor told me I could take pills heartburn prescription. I take the generic form of Zantac, I think. This is known as ranitidine. You can get a bottle at Wal-Mart for about $ 4.83 for 30 or goto Sam and get 240 pills for $ 7.84. It works very well. That's where the sore throat is coming from. Not to mention they say a lot of heartburn, a baby with a headfull hair. Found to be true with my children. My son is out need a haircut. Long hair!
good possibility. I have gotten a sore throat to have a real bad heart burn. I found that sleep with your upper body slightly raised (with extra pillows or a couch) and sucking on ice or eating ice cream, or applesauce usually feel a little better .
Good luck:) and just think t.
