Is it ok for me to use household salt and water for irrigation of the sinuses? Or should I keep spending money on orders sinus irrigation I buy at the pharmacy?
A departmental brochure ENT to my local hospital you can make this solution:
1 cup hot tap water
half teaspoon of table salt
v. teaspoon baking soda quarter
Mix fresh solution each time
Under no cirumstances should you agree to this course of action potentially fatal.
You can buy a saline solution which is very inexpensive and very useful for irrigation of the sinuses.
Salt and water in your house must be correct. My mother had a sinus surgery and later part of his recovery process was to make her own mixture of salt water and use it to flush his sinuses twice daily. Never hurt him, so I do not see why not ^ _ ^
I would check with a doctor on the solution itself: the amount of salt compared to the amount of water - just be on the safe side. I do not remember what connection they gave my mom to use.
I do not want to take that risk. Buy a saline solution. It is not expensive or difficult to obtain. Walgreens? CVS?
You do not want an irritated nose worse! (:
Happy Thanksgiving!
