Shaving Bikini Area

For some reason, I always get terrible ingrown hairs and irritated red bumps around my bikini area. I tried shaving and Nair, but I get them. ideas or suggestions on what I could do to prevent it, or am I stuck with yucky red bumps????

Just try shaving downward, with the grain so to speak, and not upward. I get less bumps in this way.
