Saline Nasal Wash

Posted on February 6, 2010.
Saline Nasal WashIs this a saline nasal spray do the same thing as a saline nasal wash will do.?

I am uncomfortable to wash my nose out

They are not really the same. They are both made of the same ingredients, but were the similarity ends there. A saline nasal spray is primarily intended to moisten nasal passages and help loosen mucus. Sinus rinses that wash the mucus in the nose and sinuses, help reduce inflammation and eliminate irritants like pollen and dander. If you only have mild symptoms without the participation of a sinus saline spray may be sufficient. However, if you have severe symptoms or sinus infection you really need to rinse the sinuses. It's a bit uncomfortable at first, kind of feels like water up your nose when you swim, but swimming as you kind of get used to the sensation. You really need to ensure that the salt solution is mixed properly (too strong or not strong enough can cause stinging) and hot (about the same temperature as you would a bottle). The simplest system I've found is bottled NeilMed Sinus Rinse and packets of mix. You can buy it at CVS or Walgreens for about $ 12. If you have done for several days and still find it really uncomfortable, you should really see your doctor. Really the relief you will then have the will is a funny feeling that you have while you do.
Good luck!

Look at the ingredients.

It's the same thing, but the washing done a more thorough removal of irritants such as dust, hair, etc.

I prefer to use "Simply Saline" or larger pot Nettie salt spray. Both seem to help me more allergies and sinus of the fog.

If you have allergies try Zicam allergy relief. I recommend it because it is a gel that you put inside your nose without even sniffing or washing necessary.
