The time of the initial malaria infection until the onset of symptoms (incubation period) generally ranges between 1
9-14 days for Plasmodium (P.) falciparum.
12-18 days for P. P. vivax oval.
18-40 days for P. malariae.
Symptoms may appear during the 7 days. Sometimes the time between exposure and signs of the disease can be as long as 8-10 months by P. P. vivax oval.
The incubation period can be longer if you take medication to prevent infection (chemoprophylaxis) or because you have some immunity due to past infections
