Sunday, November 2, 2008 EDITORIAL: Obama is a liar "on abortion
If you want to know the real opinion of Barack Obama on abortion, you should meet Jill Stanek nurse.
Ms. Stanek has worked at Christ Hospital in Oak Lawn, Illinois, 1993-2001. When she worked in the hospital's labor and delivery department, she found that babies who survived abortion attempts have been left to die alone in room supply. They could linger as long as eight hours without medical attention, without even the dignity of a warm blanket or a soft touch. Their small bodies were then thrown into the trash. spiritual mentor Obama has served on the board of the hospital. Ms. Stanek has made a crusade to protect these children.
At a hearing in 2001 the Illinois legislature, Obama questioned Ms. Stanek. She insisted that the children needed medical care if they were born alive. Obama said: "Ms. Stanek, your initial testimony last year showed your dismay at the lack of respect for human life. I agree with you last year and we have proposed there is a Comfort Room or something like that to be done. The hospital acknowledged that and changes were made and you are always impressed. I think you're really not interested in how these fetuses] ['re treated, but does not absolutely any medical care or life to them. "
Ms. Stanek said, "that the hospital has been trying to make things better. What it really is, is that the baby is still dead."
In his testimony the committee, Mr. Obama said it was sufficient to provide comfort care "for a baby is born despite all efforts to kill him. "Comfort Care" means giving the child a warm blanket and allow the baby to be held by a person as she dies. It is the most Obama could find in his heart to provide - a warm blanket for a child to grasp life. Ms. Stanek said the Washington Times that Mr. Obama has shown the callousness when he questioned the testimony of committee: its inability to comprehend that babies need medical care life is disturbing.
Despite all the information Ms Stanek provided in his testimony, Mr. Obama voted against the Induced Infant Liability Act in the Illinois legislature in 2002 - a bill that would give legal protection and medical assistance to a baby born of a failed abortion. Obama said he feared the bill could undermine Roe v. Wade. When a similar bill has been submitted to Congress, legislators in other sense it is better and the heavy heart: Children born alive Protection Act passed by the Senate by a vote of 98-0. It was enacted by President Bush August 5, 2002. Children born alive are now recognized as legal persons of right.
Obama.
