Heartburn Problems

Posted on February 22, 2010.
Heartburn ProblemsVegetarian with problems of heartburn recently?

I've been a vegetarian for about two and a half years now and recently I started having heartburn and do not really know why. There are things I eat are rice and beans, canned soups, meat substitutes (tofu, strips Chick'n, vegetarian sausage, etc..) Pizza sometimes grilled cheese, etc.. I also try to lose some weight. I am 5'5 and around 140. Could someone perhaps give me some advice on what I could do to help lose some weight and help my stomach problems?

Obviously, your food is not digested properly. Probably you do not eat enough fresh garden vegetables and too many packages processed, or very cooked, etc. You have to balance it out, and eating much less processed or prepared in advance, which are very acid forming. Humans need to eat the opposite of this - fruits and vegetables. In addition, get fruit in your diet too. You can also combine your food be impoperly for proper digestion. Take a look at this link for a list of nutrition and there is some useful information on the combination of food and digestion.

Not playing with it - burns can be serious. My brother has suffered from heartburn a lot and he ended up dying from cancer of the esophagus

Sounds like U is not necessary to lose weight. Also for heartburn try chamomile tea. if it does not help a c. teaspoon baking soda and a glass of water! Sometimes, just a clear glass of mineral water to help! I noticed U have not mentioned fruit .. neglect that can cause burns.
Vegetarians should actually eat more fruit than vegetables!

My stepmother had cayenne for its heartburn. She bought in pill form at health food store.

You should see if eating at specific times of day will help. I try to eat at least three hours before going to bed, sometimes more. I had the problems you have and had to take medication for it (like medicine Prilosec). I just started to eat less at meals with snacks between meals and a lighter seemed to work well. There is no reason to eat a big dinner party, because it is likely that you will not be very active during these periods. Eat more for breakfast and lunch is good, since you need energy to these moments.

I also found that walking helped too. So if you could take a walk a few times a week should give you a little exercise to improve your weight and can help with heartburn.

You can try the pills cons heartburn or prilosec OTC that you can find in the pharmacy (CVS, Rite-Aid, Wal-Greens, Target)

I know that anything with tomatoes or tomato sauce gives me heartburn. Try going for a few days without pizza, pasta with red sauce or canned tomatoes and see if it helps. There are many nonprescription medications to control heartburn. Tums has extra calcium in it, but I like a long-acting medication. Regarding weight loss, you talk like you try to do in a healthy way. Take some good long walk everyday to burn calories and increase your metabolism. And, of course, make sure your doctor monitors your weight loss attempt. It can perform occasional blood tests to be sure to stay healthy.

Mandie a quick and easy for heartburn is to drink a tablespoon of vinegar every day for a week .. It works really calm acids and rebalances your body .. vinegar is also ideal for losing weight and cleaning .. that people drink several times a day in water to clean .. you can do for a week or just a tablespoon a day ... Try you'll be surprised .. it is an old remedy revived just in time ..

haha .. Yeah, I've been a vegetarian for almost two and a half years and I terribly heartburn. I've never met anyone who does. But I see what we have in common, Grilled Cheese and canned soup! Even if it is.
