Heartburn MilkHeartburn - The milk make it better or worse?

I have heartburn twice a year, Maalox is a temporary solution that does not work if I'm looking remedies that will help my suffering for hours in the day that I get this burning of stomach. I do not know the acidic foods and fruit, stay away from smoking and coffee and not sleeping after a meal, but are there any foods I can use that a little easier? I've heard mixed milk, what do you think?

Milk is certainly not alkaline, and it will not neutralize the acid. If you've tried Maalox and Tums without relief, you should see a doctor for evaluation. You will probably get a prescription for something that will turn off the acid. If this does not help, you may need a field to see if you have an ulcer. Ulcers are usually caused by bacteria, by the way, and are treated with a course of three antibiotics.

The milk has a pH of 6.7, making it a little bit acidic, but it worked for me in the past. I guess, though, it just made me feel better, because it was cold rather than neutralize the acid. Tums have always worked well for me, but if you think you have a real problem with acid reflux, he discussed with your doc. You can also get Prilosec (Omeprazole is the generic, a little less expensive and equally effective) on the counter.

I'm pretty sure that milk is bad for heartburn (I too for a week or two very bad when I'm stressed at work, etc..) The milk can neutralize and do better in some cases because it is alkaline (basic) and heartburn from some of your gastric juices (acids) from the stomach into the esophagus creeping .. but I do not recommend whole milk, because the foods that are high in fat tend to cause heartburn as well. High fat content has been know to cause your lower schpincter esphageal (ERP) or the right part of esophagus before your stomach tightens to keep stomach acid to soften. Feel better (:
