Eyelid Dermatitis

Posted on March 3, 2010.
Eyelid DermatitisEyelid dermatitis??

I had a red rash, scaly, itching on my eylid for about three months now. I changed my makeup, lotion, shampoo, detergent and it is still there. I take Benadryl for the swelling and itching. Some days it does not seem as red as the others. I can not understand what I'm allergic. Stress can do that? I feel that I am the only one in the world with this problem. Any advice??

I know exactly what you feel. I broke down in seborrheic dermatitis and severe eczema everywhere, including my eyelids one month before my wedding, I was so afraid he was not about to disappear. I went to the eye doctor and she told me that when your eyes become irritated or dry skin around the eyes can get excited too.

I had to take drops for dry eyes (you can get over the counter), I stopped wearing eye makeup for one week and used a lotion Cetaphil fragrance, additives, and all what other things that irritate the skin (you can get that at Walmart, Target, etc..) It was better in a few weeks. My dermatologist told me to continue using Benadryl for the swelling.

The reason for this may be a number of things, if you think you may be allergic to something (I thought) was to pick up a patch test done at your local dermatologist.

** Please note this test is expensive if you do not have health insurance. I did and I discovered I was allergic to a number of things, but nothing about my eczema eyelids. I had health insurance and still ended up paying a lot.

In my opinion, I stick to perfume free lotion, makeup minimal, and prayer. In my eye doctors are overrated and I could have saved myself a lot of money just doing a simple change.

FYI-drug allgery and birthcontrol agents are drying your body and can cause dermatitis. I would also consider trying mineral makeup bare it has done wonders for my skin, and it is better for him! :)

Hope I've helped somehow, God bless you!

Stress can do that, but Im sure you do the one, you have looked online for groups that might discuss this problem?

might be psoriasis, need to see an MD to be sure, not like dermatitis, it is a topical medication for it. Spin is not the ANS. I am not an MD.

Nutregena Try T-gel, the problem is dandruff of the scalp is the cause and is irritating to the region. You may need a prescription shampoo and condition is called seborrheic dermatitis.

The first step is to stop using all eye makeup and facial products on your eyelids. if not do the trick, see a board certified allergist. many people with allergies develop allergic dermatitis on the eyelids, especially during the pollen seasons, or exposure to dander. It can help skin tested to learn your sensitivity. an allergist can help you choose the right medication, because the eyelids have the thinnest skin on the body, and you do not want to use a drug that has potential long-term skin damage. allergist to find a board certified AAAAI.org go.

Good luck!
