Dog Itching

Posted on February 12, 2010.
Dog Itchingitching dog?

My dog has been scratching his teeth around his back to the base of his tail recently. I tried anti-itch shampoo and it does not seem to have fleas. Any ideas on how I can resolve this? Thank you

you might need him to check into this, but a good bath, shampoo based oeatmeal done a good job with scabies. but if you're bathing often I wait like a week or two. also did you all shampoo fur? This can cause itching

If you do not know how, check your groomer anal glands first.

My dogs that too! My vet told me that if the dog is allergic to flea bites only chip can last up to two weeks: (

I would take him to the vet to be safe and perhaps he can recommend a shampoo.

If this happened during a week or more and you have tried home remedies like a bath of oatmeal, without success, I'd definitely get a sample of some kind of parasite (sometimes they are so small that 'they can not be detected by the human eye) or blocked anal glands.

If there is a bump on the skin where the dog is scratching, it may be a kind of skin irritation such as dermatitis (my dog licking / biting at the base of her tail and it was then that I took her inside and had been diagnosed).

Whatever the case, the doctor should be able to find something to relieve the itching.

You may have to deal with dog allergies, allergy yes.

There pharmecueticals news that can help this issue.

I have a Doberman Pincher who had to scratch a storm without chips (use K9 Advantix).

It has been found to allergies.

post-treatment, no more scratches.

I hope this helps you.

I want to be absolutely sure that this is not the chips first because it seems that. A hunting dog fur for flea dirt - you see these more often than real live bullets. They look like black spots, sort of comma-shaped. Paint your dog with a flea comb and watch the hair on the comb for dirt. These spots also turn red when wet.

It could also be affected anal glands, as suggested. This can cause great discomfort in the back-end, it is often the reason why dogs to wipe their asses on carpets and grass and other things. At the end of the day, only a vet can actually tell you what is the problem!
