Diabetic Diet During Pregnancy

Posted on February 26, 2010.
Diabetic Diet During Pregnancyweight loss diet during pregnancy - please read the details?

Although it is not conventional, my obstetrician put me on the diabetic diet pregnancy. I am insulin resistant and overweight, and my doctor wants prevent gestational diabetes. She said it is safe for me to lose weight throughout pregnancy.

Has anyone experience with losing weight during pregnancy? How much did you lose? What did you eat? Thank you.

I can not personally respond to your question, because it does not apply to me. However, my best friend has experienced that with her first baby. She was overweight (has since had gastric bypass surgery ...). I know she did not gain ANY weight during her pregnancy and lost between 5-10 pounds, which does not sound like much, but she was pregnant when she was the equivalent of losing 30-35 pounds . Anyway, I know she ate very healthy. No soda, no juice sweetened, no pizza or something like that. She ate lots of vegetables (salads) and snacked on nuts and fruits. I know that for her, the soda thing was really hard. Hold on, it will be very difficult to maintain a diet during pregnancy. Good luck:)

Even if you diet, you'll be fine if you eat healthy and eat an appropriate number of calories for your body. I would not go from 2500 cal. (For ex.) In 1000 ... but if you choose healthy foods for your baby and you have all the nutrients you need. Do not be surprised if you feel really hungry but the fruit / vegetables do not stick with your body as long as dietary fat / carbohydrate type do ... Eat lots of small healthy meals.

this woould probably a good thing for Google .... as diabetic recipes .....

I was not trying to lose weight, but my kids made it happen. They grew up without a problem and I lost about 20 pounds during each of Pregs. Somehow all the kids got what they needed and I just naturally lost weight. He never figureed on, unfortinitly he returned while I was breastfeeding .... just my luck

I had gestational diabetes during my first, and type 2 diabetes with my second baby. I followed a strict regime at a time, and both were born healthy. I do not know how much weight I lost after the babies are born. You gain the water weight of baby, etc., which replaces the body weight you are losing. I was 20 pounds lighter with my firstborn, and 40 pounds less with my second birth. If your OB hasn't she suggested, ask to see a dietician. A dietitian will ensure that you are getting enough calcium, protein and vitamins in your diet for a healthy pregnancy. Here's wishing you a happy healthy nine months :-)

I was put on the same "regime" with my second pregnancy. I did not really lose weight. but after the birth of the baby told me I could eat the same way and I do not lose weight. I lost about 30 pounds after my second. I saw a regs. dietitian and has helped with the meal plans. I ate some cheese strings, 1 / 2 cup fruit both peanut butter and jelly sug free, lean meats, loads of vegetables, whole grain bread (1 piece at a time). 1 packet of oatmeal, 6 almonds, 2 eggs and a glass of 8 oz of milk for breakfast. is an example of a breakfast. success

I lost weight
I have not been on a diet
I was and I'm on weight
I had salad for lunch instead of fast food or fried
I cut out junk food, drinking water
I walked all day

I have less weight at nine months pregnant, then I made my first doctor appointment

I ate, but snacks and healthy salads and fruit
I was away from candy, chips, fast food, fried foods, etc.

They'd come every two weeks for five months and had seven ultrasounds to make sure that the baby was gaining weight
It has been longer and 8 pounds, she grew up fine

I lost weight because I ate healthy and walking every day
I was 25 pounds less, my six weeks checkup
