Does the contraceptive pill is going to help my acne? My acne broke out a few days before my period, then disappears almost completely a few weeks later. It seems to be a hormonal thing, and I was wondering if the hormones in birth control pills would help. There seems to be many different types of pill, then that would be best for me?
Some hormonal acne is caused by excess androgens (male hormones). The pill called Diane ED is specifically designed to reduce these hormones and thus treats acne. It has a maximum effect at 3 months and works extremely well.
I took it for years without problems
It also has the advantage of being a contraceptive.
It is expensive.
Some of these pills is cause acne, but Ortho Evra is supposed to help cure acne.
Well this is something you should talk to your doctor. It might help, I know when I'm on him, he helped calm my headaches. If it is possible to do something that you do not have to worry about, like the ring Nuva ... maybe its just me, but I like having the freedom and I hate taking pills to make it work for me. In addition you put in and leave for 3 weeks with worries. Talk to your doctor and explore your options.
There are many pills on the market these days and all have their own advantages and fails.
Some do indeed help ignite your hormones too. But keep in mind that the effects differ per person and are not always guaranteed.
The best thing you can do is talk to a doctor and see what kind of pills, it can provide. Some of them can be very costly, however, and other side effects can be troublesome.
Hello! When I was in high school I had no acne. But I had heavy periods. I was in pain. Then at the age of 23, I started to break down my face with acne before and during my period. I went to dermatologists, but it has not improved. The end result was that I had a hormonal imbalance. I take a pill called Apri, and I'm 31, soon 32. I took it since I was about 27 years. It reduces the pain of cramps, and the amount of time I have my period (about 4 days) and finally, yes, it clears the acne.
