Allergy Nasal Spray

Posted on February 23, 2010.
Allergy Nasal SprayWhat is the best OTC allergy nasal spray?

I've been looking for a Wal-Mart nasal allergy spray and there were lots of different makes. Which ones work best and how much it is? I'm looking around the range of $ 6.

I am always congested, so I want something to lighten my nasal passage.

Afrin nasal sprays such as Neo-Synephrine and, and others are not allergic sprays, they are decongestants. Decongestants are for the stuffy nose (nasal congestion), but does not exclude allergy.

The use of these spray decongestants for more than 72 hours (3 days) causes a bounce going into effect an addict nasal spray. "Not a true addiction, of course, but not yet. It also makes it unfit for symptoms allergy.

Saline nasal sprays do not contain drugs, and help some. Yet they are not anti-allergy.

The only non-prescription spray nasal allergy, I am aware of is NasalCrom (Cromyln). It's like an antihistamine, but instead of blocking the effects of histamine by stabilizing mast cells that release histamine. Thus, the effect takes a while to start because it does not block histamine, which is already released.

It does not cause drowsiness and can be used with antihistamines for added effect.

Look for generics. It may be sold under different names, but are beside the NasalCrom on the plateau of allergy / cough / cold section. The active ingredient is cromylin. I think it costs more than $ 6.00, probably at least twice.

Flonase for "drug kiwi"! Use the spray for 2 years now for my allergies, it works amazingly Flag

4-way I have some now and I can breathe!

If you are looking for a quick solution, then spray decongestants like Afrin would be for your. But these types of sprays are not intended to be used long term. I think it is around $ 5, but not sure.

You can try a saline spray, these usually cost a few dollars and have no long term side effects. Better yet, they do things like "Sinu-rinse" you make a saline rinse and spray your nose and you pass through the nasal cavity and works in the dirt. It REALLY helps. But if you can not breathe out of either nostril it will not work.

I used Rhinocort, which is not on the counter, and to tell you the truth I do not know what he does but it works wonders for me. Another type is Flonase.

From what I found, nor the spray counter is approved for use in the long term. If you are looking for something that will last I suggest you make an order. Tell your doctor or perhaps an allergy specialist to see what suits you best.
