Is ginger ale good to drink if I have problems with acid reflux? If not, what are the safest things to drink? I feel very thirsty today and I continue to drink juices that have a lot of acid in their example (straberry / kiwi, orange juice, etc..) That water, what are other good drinks?
ginger ale can help, but with acid reflux can lead to problems of the esophagus. Consult your doctor.
All that carbonation will give you the problem. Try drinking purple grape juice (diluted a bit so it is not too heavy), tea with ginger and lemon, chamomile, or other plants - most are good either hot or iced . Another option is sugar-free Kool-Aid. Sounds juvenile, but it works.
I avoid everything with the carbonation, especially colas. For juice, apples, papaya and passion fruit, peach, pear, grapes and are less irritating than citrus drinks. I think water is best, and sometimes, just suck on ice chips help. Herbal teas such as chamomile are good. mint tea to avoid. If you drink milk, try not to drink more than 4 ounces at a time. I know it does not sound exciting, but the water is really your best bet. On a brighter note, it seems to go in cycles, there will be times when you feel better and can have more things that you want. Good luck!
I had reflux for a long time ... yogurt really helps a lot. So do not overeat before bedtime. I found TUMS and other things to chew completely useless, but when mine is at its peak, liquid Gaviscon still works well. Good luck!
